The climate crisis is urgent, and no country can solve this challenge alone. Climate change threatens the lives and livelihoods of over 100 million people in extreme poverty worldwide. The record-breaking heat, floods, storms, drought, and wildfires devastating communities around the world underscore the grave risks we already face. Climate change affects our lives in many ways, including the water we depend on, our economies and livelihoods, food systems, our health, infrastructure, and ecosystems. Africa’s agriculture sector is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of the climate crisis because it is heavily dependent on weather patterns and rainfall. Climate indicators show us that Africa is especially vulnerable to climate change. By 2030, 108–116 million people in Africa will be exposed to sea-level rise (compared to 54 million in 2000), increasing to 190–245 million by 2060.
The YALI4OurFuture campaign is dedicated to increasing awareness of and providing actionable solutions to five key areas of the climate crisis: forests, emissions, water, food, and people. Each one of us can do our part to help mitigate the effects of climate change. Show your support for the environment by joining YALI4OurFuture today!
YALIGoesGreen for Climate and Energy discusses the many challenges and innovations around energy and its impact on the environment. Protecting the environment has many advantages like increasing security, creating jobs, and developing the economy.
